Reliable firefighting lost-wax cast solutions
Ask a group of firefighters their preferred nozzle for firefighting, and you’ll end up dividing the room. One group will prefer a straight tip nozzle, and the other a fog tip. Unfortunately, there’s no straight answer to which is better.
Fortunately, as lost-wax casting manufacturers, we at Super Quali Cast produce investment castings for nozzle tips for both straight and fog. Our multi-year casting experience and expertise with various materials help produce nozzle tips that meet operational requirements and challenging conditions.
We ship our nozzle tips to multiple countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, Brazil, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
Our Nozzle Tip Investment Casting Process
At Super Quali Cast, we produce our nozzle tips using the lost-wax investment casting process. Here’s how we do it:
Pattern Creation
Designing and creating the wax pattern to affix it to the runner tree.
Ceramic Investing
Dipping the wax pattern tree multiple times in the ceramic slurry to obtain an even coat and the required thickness.
De-waxing
Placing the ceramic casts in an autoclave to melt the wax and harden the shell.
Pouring
Filling in the cavity with the molten metal. As the metal cools down, the components take shape.
Knocking and Machining
Knocking out the components from the shell, removing them from the tree, and grinding the end to establish accurate geometry. Additional machining subject to requirement.
Final Inspection
Visually and mechanically verifying the components to ensure zero-defect output and compliance with design standards.

Nozzle Tip Types and Application
Nozzle tips for firefighting can be loosely categorized into straight tip nozzles and fog tip nozzles.
Straight Tip Nozzles
These are simple to manufacture and easy to operate nozzles that shoot out a steady column of water. These are used for extended reach and excellent penetration on-site. The nozzle produces a precise arc that helps keep the surroundings dry.
Straight tip nozzles have little to no moving parts of their own, and the column width can be varied using stackable nozzles.
Fog Tip Nozzles
By contrast, fog tip nozzles are complex instruments with motors and multiple moving parts. As the name implies, fog tip nozzles are used to create a fine mist and provide an even spray of water to the affected area.
Fog tip nozzles favor width over length, the only caveat being an inverse relationship between length and width.
These nozzle tips are primarily used to coat the surrounding building, trees, cars, and other objects with water. This helps curb the spread of fire and permits quick dousing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which is the best material for investment casting for the nozzle tip?
The best material for nozzle tip investment casting is the one that achieves product-application fit for your project. Nozzles are made using a range of materials, with stainless steel being a popular choice for its high heat and corrosion resistance.
Which surface finish is ideal for firefighting nozzle tips?
The ideal surface finish for firefighting nozzle tips will depend on the material used in producing them. Popular options like stainless steel require electroplating for the best performance.
How do investment casting nozzle tips reduce costs?
Investment casting nozzle tips help reduce costs because secondary operations, such as drilling, milling, and reaming, are negligible. Lost-wax casting is preferred because it produces near-net shapes across batches and production lines.
