Manufacturing Capability - Investment Castings for Valves

As a custom valve casting foundry, Super Quali Cast combines skilled people, advanced systems, and proven processes to deliver precision investment casting for valves and support valve manufacturing across diverse industrial applications.

Designing For Manufacturability (DFM)

Our experts simplify product design, standardize tooling, improve material usage, run liquid metal simulations, and optimize gating to lower ramp-up times and stay cost-effective. More so for prototype development for new designs. At the end of this process, we provide a technical feasibility sheet, assembly design, FAIR, and PPAP.

Rapid Prototyping

We simulate components based on CAD drawings, using Siemens Unigraphics. The team uses them to create prototypes using 3D printing and silicon tooling. This allows us to iterate in rapid cycles, with the entire prototyping for investment casting taking only two to three weeks.

Engineered Alloys

While we work with a range of standard alloys such as stainless steel, iron-based derivatives, bronze, copper, nickel, brass, and superalloys, we also support custom mixes. We can cast valve components with your proprietary alloy or help create an engineered solution that meets application-specific requirements.

Melting Capacity

We have three furnaces in our foundry, two crucibles that ingest up to 300 kgs and another that can handle up to 500 kgs. Our foundries are modern and work seamlessly with common and superalloys to meet every lost-wax casting need.

Production lines

We operate three production lines across our two foundries. Key processes include pattern production and inspection, wax injection (semi-automatic), wax assembly, shell building, and casting.

Daily Production

We have the capacity to produce up to 20,000 pieces in 24 hours. This applies to simple, legacy, and easy-to-cast designs and is subject to change with complex designs and/or materials.

Machine Shop

“As is” castings are introduced to the machine shop where they undergo machining, drilling, and reaming operations, as required. This improves surface roughness, ensures tight fit on mating surfaces, and delivers an all-around better surface finish. We use the best-in-class CNC machines (three- and four-axis), paired with ZEISS Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).

Traceability

We use industry-standard ERP solutions engineered for investment casting to implement traceability. This allows us to trace a faulty component to its raw material lot and the technician responsible for casting it.

In-house Inspection

Our in-house inspection helps us deliver defect-free components. We pair our testing equipment with trained NDT level 2 personnel to perform spectrometric checks, liquid penetrant inspection, magnetic particle inspection, microscopic checks, X-rays, and dye-penetrant tests. We also check for hardness, toughness, strength, and dimensional accuracy.

Packaging & logistics

Our packaging incorporates fumigated wooden pallets, VCI covers, and corrugated boxes with proper separators. Furthermore, we use bubble bags to protect individual castings and cover machined areas with customized rubber articles for added protection. Our sea-worthy packaging and support for third-party audit preparedness help us provide logistics support to 15+ countries.

How we Manufacture Investment Castings for Valves

As one of the leading industrial valve castings manufacturers, we leverage data, automation, and trained personnel to produce precision investment castings for valves.

Preliminary Stage

Our team designs for manufacturability, engages in rapid prototyping, and runs fast iteration cycles to deliver an optimized prototype that simplifies design, reduces weight, and is cost-effective.

Tertiary Stage

Mechanical, chemical, and geometric final inspection for near-defect-free output, followed by sorting and packaging for domestic supply and international export.

Secondary Stage

This is the stage where the bulk of the manufacturing happens.

  • Molds & Casts: Our technicians create wax molds, attach them to a sprue to form a wax runner tree, and invest the tree up to eight times to create robust ceramic casts.
  • Dewaxing & Pouring: Ceramic casts are placed in an autoclave to melt the wax quickly and prevent burn-in. It's then fired in an oven for curing, after which molten metal is gradually gravity-poured into the cavity and allowed to take shape.
  • Knockout & Fettling: Removing ceramic casts manually via knocking or using high-pressure water jets. The extracted valve components then undergo gate removal, basic grinding, and initial cleaning.
  • Heat treatment & Machining: Components are heat-treated to improve metallurgical properties, and they undergo machining operations that significantly lower their surface roughness and deliver tight tolerances.
