Investment Casting for Globe Valves

Globe valve

Precision globe valve casts for pressure-sensitive production lines

At Super Quali Casts, we manufacture investment castings for globe valves that are used across a range of industries. Produced in JIS and IBR certified facilities, our globe valve castings are central to every operation where it’s necessary to throttle the flow of gases and liquids.

Our finished castings are supplied domestically to valve manufacturers and OEMs as well as exported to similar businesses in North America, Europe, and Japan. We produce our globe valve castings using the investment casting process for superior dimensional accuracy and surface finishing.

Our Manufacturing Process of Globe Valve Casting

At Super Quali Cast, the Globe Valve casting moves through the following process:

Wax Pattern Creation and Investing

We create wax patterns for the globe valve components and attach them to a runner. This runner is invested in a high-grade ceramic slurry and coated with stucco—up to eight times.

Dewaxing

Our foundrymen introduce the runner in an autoclave to melt the wax and get the cast ready for pouring. The ceramic cast is put in a high-temperature kiln to melt any traces of remaining wax and strengthen the cast itself.

Material Testing and Controlled Pouring

We test a small sample of the metal to be poured in a spectrometer, and upon satisfaction, provide an MTC (Material Testing Certificate). Casters then pour the metal into the hollow ceramic shells using gravity pouring.

Knockout and Separation

Worker’s knockout the ceramic shells using vibration and water jets. Machinists separate the components from the runner and provide finishing touches to the body, stem, and bonnet for dimensional conformity.

Heat Treatment

Workers load the individual finished casts into a kiln to improve material strength, surface hardness, and pressure tolerance.

Final Inspection

Experts check the finished products using a universal tester for yield stress, tensile strength, reduction, etc. Dimensional and visual checks ensure a zero-defect output every time.

Applications of Globe Valve Castings

Globe valves are used across industries where fluids are involved and are specifically useful for controlling the flow of fluids.

  • Pharmaceuticals: Critical for managing the rate of flow of chemicals from one point to another.
  • Petroleum: Used for controlling the flow of crude and refined oil in oil refineries.
  • Manufacturing: Especially where boilers play a crucial role.
  • Municipal: Helps control the rate of flow of water supply to nodes and end users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is investment globe valve casting the right choice for me?

Investment globe valve casting is the right choice for you if you need small to medium sized glove valve casts. Sand casting is a better fit for large globe valve casts, though internal components such as seats, discs, and plugs are almost always investment cast.

Which is the best material for investment casting of globe valves?

The best material for investment casting of globe valves depends on end-user needs. Material changes depending on design and operational conditions, but stainless-steel works for most use cases.

Which globe valve designs can you cast?

We cast all three types of globe valves in use contemporarily.

  • T-shape
  • Angle pattern (90°angle)
  • S-shaped (Z-shaped)

How do you check internal defects in globe valve casting?

We check internal defects in globe casting using X-ray for gas pockets and dye penetrant testing (DPT) for micro-cracks.

Do you provide separate pressure tests for your globe valve castings?

No, we do not provide separate pressure test certifications for our globe valve castings. All our castings are produced in an ISO 9001 facility and comply with ASME B16.34.
